We are always very excited about new restaurants in Wedding. As soon as we read in the Weddingweiser about Stranero we run to try their pizza and check out the restaurant. They are situated next to Nauener Platz, in the growing kiez of Malplaquetstr. Their pizza is very good and not expensive at all. For now is all they have, we hope they include some antipasti or salads in the menu to accompany those tasty pizzas. They probably will!
A couple of weeks ago we finally got to go to the Pierogarnia, in Turiner str. A friend had recommended this cosy restaurant/café where one can taste real home-made Polish pierogi.
Many people had told me already about this little Korean restaurant in Leopoldplatz. It is indeed a cute and authentic looking place to have a proper plate of Korean cuisine. We didn´t have any problems to get a seat (I had read that it could be busy at dinner time). The friendly waitress brought us a strange but tasty tea pot of broth that tasted like sunflower seeds and some appetizers. The Café Pförtner is at the entrance of the old BVG garages and in front of Uferstudios. This area is now used as art spaces and ateliers for all sort of cultural events. The location is picturesque enough and so is the Café itself. Tables and chairs are made out of pallets which matches the factory type environment of the location. It has terrace in the front and in the back where there is also a bus turned into dining room. Continue reading
